What is a dermatological examination?

A dermatological examination is a consultation with a specialist dermatologist who evaluates the skin, nails, hair, and mucous membranes. It is used to diagnose, monitor, and treat skin conditions, or as a preventive check-up, such as examining moles or skin changes.

What does a typical dermatological examination include?
Medical history (conversation with the patient)
Clinical examination of the skin
Assessment of lesions, changes, rashes, inflammation, etc.
Diagnosis and recommendations
Treatment (topical or oral medications, ointments, antibiotics, antifungals, phototherapy, etc.)
Additional tests (biopsy, blood tests, allergy tests)

Follow-up or control
This is especially important for patients at risk of melanoma or chronic conditions such as psoriasis, acne, atopic dermatitis, and similar disorders.
